Pianist Aldo Ragone thrills audiences worldwide with a repertoire that ranges from Bach to Villa Lobos, from Franck to Dallapiccola, from Chopin to Scriabin.

Ragone brings to his artistic life a unique synthesis of European and American traditions. Having graduated from the Santa Cecilia Conservatory in Rome in 1991 under the guidance of Giuseppe Scotese, he continued his studies at other leading piano schools in Europe, including the Cini Foundation in Venice, where he received a three-year scholarship and studied with Maestro Eugenio Bagnoli. His mentor is the legendary Italian pianist Aldo Ciccolini, with whom he studied in Rome, Paris, and Trinitapoli from 1991 to 1996.

Ragone is a scholar and advocate of Skrjabin’s music, having performed all of his piano sonatas and other major works. In 2007, he earned a Doctor of Musical Arts (D.M.A.) in Piano Performance with a thesis on Scriabin under the guidance of Russian pianist Larissa Dedova, a student of Lev Oborin, at the University of Maryland, College Park. Raisa Scriabine, great-granddaughter of the great Russian composer, after hearing one of his recitals, invited him to perform at the Russian Embassy in Washington DC on Skrjabin Memorial Day, April 27, 2006.

In 2000, Ragone unanimously received the Performance Diploma from the École Normale de Musique Alfred Cortot in Paris, under the guidance of Marcella Crudeli, and in 2008, the Artist Diploma in Piano Performance from the University of Denver, under the guidance Theodor Lichtmann and Steven Mayer. In 2012, he earned a Master’s Degree from the Conservatory Gaetano Braga in Teramo. He has also performed in masterclasses led by renowned musicians such as André Watts, Ann Schein, and Tigran Alikanov, as well as courses taught by Pavel Giliov and Evgeny Mogilevsky.

Ragone has distinguished himself in national and international competitions, winning over thirty awards, including First Prizes at the Casamassima, Brindisi, and Rieti National Competitions, and at the Castellaneta International Competition. He has performed in Italy for musical institutions such as the Giorgio Cini Foundation in Venice, the Museum of Musical Instruments and the Teatro La Scaletta in Rome, the Coretto in Bari, the Aragonese Castle in Otranto, the Tito Schipa Conservatory of Music in Lecce, the Sala Thalberg and the Sala Aldo Ciccolini in Naples, the Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa, the Teatro Vespasiano in Rieti, in Musica a Piazza Colonna in Rome, and the Contemporary Music Festival at the Teatro di Latina, the International Midsummer Festival in Tagliacozzo, the International Beethoven Music Festival in Sutri, the Pontino Festival, the Tuscia Opera Festival, the University of Tuscia, the Roma Musica Estate festival, the Liszt Festival in Albano Laziale, the International Festival of Bosa Antica, the Karl Jenkins Association in Montecompatri, and many others. His performance of Sergei Rachmaninov Second Piano Concerto at the Teatro Alfonso Rendano in Cosenza was broadcast by the national television channel Cinque Stelle.

In 2003, Ragone made his debut at the prestigious Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., USA. He has subsequently performed at many other concert venues across the United States, including the Gildenhorn Recital Hall of the Clarice Smith Center for the Performing Arts at the University of Maryland, College Park; in Washington, D.C., at the historic Dacor-Bacon House, the Brazilian American Cultural Institute, and the Washington Arts Club; in the Washington metropolitan area, at the Società Culturale Italiana and Strathmore Hall Mansion; in Virginia, at the Lyceum, the Fairfax Town Hall Series, and the Rappahannock Music Series; in Baltimore, at the Old St. Paul Church Music Series; and in Maryland, at the Sanford Concert Series. In Colorado, he has performed to great acclaim at Hamilton Hall and Gates Hall of the Newman Center for the Arts at the University of Denver and at Regis University in Denver. Also in Colorado, he performed the Piano Concerto No. 1 in B flat major. Saint Saëns’ Piano Concerto No. 5 with the Denver Philharmonic Orchestra at Denver’s King Center Concert Hall as well as Skrjabin rarely performed Piano Concerto op. 20 with the Niwot Timberline Symphony.

Other international appearances include the Sommerclassics Music Festival in Saffig, Germany, a recital at Trinity Cathedral in Cleveland, a performance of Bach’s Piano Concerto BWV 1052 in D minor with the Petrassi Youth Chamber Orchestra in Zagarolo, Italy, the Bloomsbury International Recital Series in London, UK, a performance of Skrjabin Piano Concerto with the Eskisehir Symphony Orchestra in Turkey, and recitals in Istanbul and Gümüşlük. In 2012, he completed a US tour with recitals, masterclasses, and a performance of Sergei Rachmaninov Second Piano Concerto with the Denver Philharmonic Orchestra, broadcast on KPOF Radio in Denver.

In addition to his concert activity, Aldo Ragone has been invited several times to serve as a juror at the Pera International Piano Competition in Turkey and other competitions. He has given recitals at the Azerbaijani Embassy in Poland, in Frascati, near Rome, for UNICEF Rome, in aid of Syrian children, at ANKUSEV for Ankara University in Turkey, and recitals and masterclasses at the Szymanowski State School of Music in Warsaw and at several editions of the International Pera Piyano Festival in Istanbul. In Turkey, he has given a masterclass at Istanbul University, in Italy at the Gioconda De Vito Summer Campus and the Bosa Antica International Festival, while in the U.S., he has given masterclasses at Cleveland State University, Metropolitan State College of Denver, and Colorado University in Boulder. In 2017 and 2018, he performed and gave masterclasses at the Baku National Academy of Music in Azerbaijan.

In 2009, 2011, and 2019, the United States government granted him a visa for extraordinary ability in the field of music.

From 2003 to 2006, Aldo Ragone was a Teaching Assistant at the University of Maryland, USA, and from 2007 to 2009, he taught piano at Regis University in Denver, Colorado, USA. From 2011 to 2014, he taught at the Conservatory of Music in Vibo Valentia, as well as at its branch in Catanzaro. Since 2014, Aldo Ragone has been Professor of Piano at the Conservatory of Music in Campobasso, Italy.

His students have won and been finalists in renowned national and international piano competitions. Ragone is also in international demand for his seminars dedicated to Alexander Scriabin, which he has held annually since 2011.
